Nestor’s Cabin is a rental cottage at Nestorinranta, located on a southwest‑facing sandy beach on Lake Saimaa, in the Puumala archipelago on Lintusalo Island. A beautiful archipelago road with ferries leads all the way to the destination.
The cabin consists of several small buildings and can be booked from May Day until October. It includes all essential comforts, but there is no Wi‑Fi and no flush toilets. Instead, there are two composting outhouses.

Who was Nestori?
Nestor’s Cabin is named after Nestori Reponen, whose sauna stood on the same spot in the 1960s. When Nestori played the accordion on the sauna steps, a rare Saimaa ringed seal would come to listen from a nearby rock.
This story later became a song that became very popular in Finland. The song is called “Vanhojapoikia viiksekkäitä.” You can listen to it online. The story is also presented in the main building at Nestorinranta, in the Navettasali, and at the pancake café by the ferry harbour.
Ecological waste management
All our accommodation units have indoor and outdoor sorting points, including for biowaste. The green composter at Nestor’s Cabin produces compost soil for our vegetable garden. The black composter continues the composting of the outhouse waste, and this soil is used to fertilise ornamental plants and lawns at the main building.
When making a reservation
If there are more than 4 of you and 3–4 people can sleep in the wide bunk bed, you may book up to 3 additional places under “Also book”. You must first book the cabin itself.
Reservations can be made up to 1–2 days before arrival. If you are booking later than that, please call or send an email.
If you are booking for the following year, please make the reservation by email. We will invoice you only in the same year the stay takes place.
