Explore lake Saimaa on a canoe holiday

Rent a canoe for a few days and go on a self guided canoe safari in lake Saimaa in Puumala . Book and pay online, pickup and return canoe in Puumala center. A canoe trip requires previous canoe experience, mastery of camping skills and your own camping equipment, you can get a canoe from us. Swimming skills required. Lake Saimaa is a canoe paradise.

Rental includes

  • Winkkari open canoe (=indian canoe). Canoe has 3 seats and on a short canoe trip it is good for 2-3 persons. On a longer trip it is good for 2 persons and camping gear

  • Paddles and safety vests. Waterproof map of Puumala canoe routes.

  • Book online, pickup and return in our self-service rental-point in Puumala center

  • Confirmation, instructions and copy of rental confitions sent to your email immediately after booking

  • Help with route planning if needed. As we are not allways present in our self-service depot, ask help well in advance by email

  • Winkkari open canoe information: length 520cm, width 90cm, weight 42kg, load capacity 450kg, made in Finland

How does rental work

  1. The rental period starts and ends at the time of your choice. You can choose between 3-12 hours per hourly pricing and 1-5 days per daily pricing. For longer rental periods, please contact us. The rental period for daily pricing allways starts at 09:00 in the morning and ends at 09:00 in the morning. NOTE that you may not change the rental time after booking, so think your schedule carefully before booking

  2. Book and pay online. You will get immediat confirmation, instructions and copy of rental conditions to your email. IMPORTANT: read the instructions in your email carefully as the rental company operates on a self-service basis.

  3. Pickup rental equipment from Puumala center self-service rental-point, address: Niementie 3, 52200 Puumala (Koulukartano, the second light blue building close to the bridge). One hour before start of your rental-time you will get an email with opening-code to the box containing the key to the lock of rental-point. Take  the equipment that you have booked. If you wish, you can leave your luggage in baggage-room behind the locks for the duration of your trip. NOTE The nearest parking lot for the car is under the bridge, approx. 200 meters away

  4. Enjoy paddling. Remember to watch out for boat traffic and stay close to the shore, do not paddle in the shipping lane!

  5. Return the rental equipment by the end of the rental period at the same place, well cleaned. NOTE, remember to be on time, because the next person may already be waiting for the equipment. A delay fee of €5 per each starting 15 minutes would be charged from you in case of delay

  6. You are responsible for the rental equipment and must return it in good condition. If the equipment breaks or is lost while you are using it, you will need to compensate it according to the rental conditions.

See https://excursionmap.fi Find Puumala in this online map and plan your route in advance. Rental includes a waterproof paper map. You should bring compass and/or gps device to help you navigate

Rental conditions
The equipment to be rented must be returned in the same condition as it was when rented. Check the equipment before renting it and report any problems immediately before you take the equipment out of storage, so that we know who is responsible for any defects.

The renter is responsible for the rented equipment throughout the rental period and is obliged to compensate for all damages caused to the equipment according to the realized repair costs or the new purchase price. If the equipment is lost or stolen during the rental period, the renter undertakes to compensate LakelandGTE for the replacement price of the lost or stolen equipment.

The renter is responsible for himself and for the damages he causes, and ensures that he has valid insurance for himself and for possible damages to others. The renter undertakes to follow the safety instructions and to be careful and careful and to take the conditions into account when using the rental equipment. Rental equipment must not be handed over to children without the immediate and constant supervision of an adult!
