Join us for a summer day cruise from Savonlinna to Puumala and experience the most beautiful waterways of southern Lake Saimaa. During the day, the cruise follows the Saimaa Deep Waterway through the wide open waters of Lake Pihlajavesi and picturesque archipelago landscapes on its way to Puumala.
This cruise is also easily accessible from Mikkeli. The day begins with a bus transfer from Mikkeli to Savonlinna at 9:00 am, where passengers board M/S Aino. Alternatively, you may join the cruise directly at Savonlinna Harbour.
M/S Aino departs from Savonlinna at 12:00 pm. The route follows the waters of Pitkä Pihlajavesi to southern Pihlajavesi and continues through Vekaransalmi towards Puumala. Part of the route follows the famous Sulkava Rowing Race course, but instead of rowers, passengers may encounter kilometre-long log rafts towed by tugboats as well as other commercial traffic operating on Lake Saimaa.
Along the way, visitors can experience authentic Saimaa life. Keen observers may spot a rare Saimaa ringed seal surfacing near the vessel or swimming in the distance. The journey offers magnificent open lake views, archipelago scenery and lively maritime traffic throughout the cruise.
A delicious soup lunch is served on board between 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Meals are prepared according to advance reservations, so we recommend booking your lunch in advance.
At the end of the day, the vessel arrives at Puumala Harbour, where passengers can enjoy the atmosphere of this charming summer village before returning to Mikkeli by bus.
